It would be ideal if you could
choose where you’re gonna sleep every night. However, always
expect the unexpected. That mans that sometimes you wouldn’t
be able to arrive somewhere the same day you’ve planned to,
so you’ll get stuck in some Neverland and will have to spend
the night there. That’s why it is best you always take something
you could sleep on just in case. Let your tent and sleeping
bag be your trade mark.
Sleeping bags
When you buy a sleeping bag bear I mind that it will be your
bed during the whole month or even more as well as that you
will spend one third of the day in it.
Material
A sleeping bag is made of a wrap and of filling. They can
be made of the natural or artificial materials. When we say
wrap we mean the outer part and the part next to your body.
The outer part is usually made of some synthetic material,
which can’t get dirty easily and is easily cleaned sometimes
even a waterproof one. The inner part can also be synthetic
but there are also bags made of a natural material. They are
not easily maintained but they are much softer. The best solution
might be to make cotton sack for your synthetic sleeping bag
and crawl into it. The filling must be natural, too (usually
fluff) or artificial (synthetic fiber). Bags filled with fluff
take less space; they are lighter and warmer. However, bags
filled with fiber it’s easier to wash, they dry faster and
are warmer when they get wet. Depending on the season, choose
between the warmer or less warm bag.
The size
Make sure your sleeping bag is of the appropriate size before
you buy it. Your feet can freeze in the sleeping bag that
is too big, but if it’s long enough, it may be too narrow
around your shoulders. It is best to try it out in the shop.
Mat
It is used as an isolator (it stops the moistness breach and
coldness from the ground) and it will make your “bed” softer.
It should be made of “warm” synthetic waterproof material.
You can also take it to the beach.
Tents
The very cheap ones can be used as a pool! That means that
if it rains, the water will be inside instead of outside (if
you have already bought it, buy a large piece of nylon to
cover it). If you can’t decide between the shapes of “igloo”
and “house”, I recommend you the first one for two reasons-
the wind can’t blow it down, and it can stand without the
tent pegs. If you choose that, make sure it has got eaves
because, if it doesn’t, whenever you open the zipper, during
rain, the water will flow directly into your tent!
Eaves
I bought a piece of waterproof cloth (the size of my tent’s
bottom) so that I can put it even on the wet ground. I had
been putting it under my tent when I had camped on the places
full of sharply cut grass It is great for picnics on the grass!
