Niš

Nish trough history to present days
Nish is commonly called the gate between East and West, or a crossroad of Balkans, because it represents a point of intersection of three strategical directions of international road and rail traffic. The so called "Moravski direction", passing through the valley of the river south Morava and the river Vardar, connects central and western Europe with Greece and Aegean sea, and further with Middle East. The "Nishavski direction", passing through a valley of river Nishava, connects Europe with Turkey, Asia Minor and Middle East. Third, "Transbalcans direction", connects Eastern Europe with Adriatic Sea. Such position of Nish contributed that its history has marks and bits of cultures of many nations from antient history till today.
